Hiromi Tamura
Graduated from Tohoku University of Art And Design in the Department of Fine Arts, with a major in Decorative Arts.
Met Jesus and baptized at the age 21.
Drawing and creating have come naturally to Hiromi since childhood. She cultivated an appreciation for traditional Japanese practices and objects at an early age, as her family occupied older buildings with a sense of history. Additionally, Hiromi was heavily influenced by her grandfather, as he was an “oke” (Japanese wooden pails) craftsmen, which, combined with her environmental surroundings, inspired her to study Decorative Arts at an Art University.
She creates crafted paper boxes called “Shiki” using the traditional Japanese art materials “washi” (traditional Japanese paper), “kinpaku” (gold leaf, or gold foil), and “iwa enogu” (natural paint made from mineral pigments commonly used in “nihonga”, or Japanese painting).
